Slow is a symptom with a lot of possible causes. Diagnose before you optimise, or you will spend a weekend tuning something that was never the problem.

1. Measure properly. Run your site through a page speed tool. Note the difference between time to first byte, which is a server-side signal, and total load time, which is mostly about what your pages contain.

2. If first byte is slow the work is happening on the server. Usual suspects: an expensive plugin, an unindexed database query, an old PHP version, or hitting your resource limits.

3. If first byte is fine but the page still takes ages the problem is in the page itself. Almost always images - a single unresized photo straight from a phone camera can be 6 MB.

4. Check Resource Usage in cPanel. If you are consistently at your CPU or memory ceiling, every request queues. No amount of caching fixes a plan that is simply too small.

5. Change one thing at a time and re-measure. Changing five things and getting a better score teaches you nothing about which one mattered.

The highest-value fixes, in the order they usually pay off: resize your images, turn on caching, move to the current PHP version, remove plugins you do not use.
