In WHM, Create a New Account. Enter the customer domain, pick a username, generate a password, choose the package, and set their contact email. cPanel is provisioned in a few seconds and the customer receives their own welcome email.

Day-to-day tasks you will use constantly:

  • List Accounts - everything you have, with a quick search. Your home page in WHM.
  • Modify an Account - change the domain, contact address or username.
  • Upgrade/Downgrade - move a customer between packages.
  • Suspend/Unsuspend - for non-payment. Suspending keeps every file intact and is instantly reversible, which is why it exists.
  • Terminate - deletes the account and everything in it, permanently. Take a full backup first, every single time.

You can log into any customer cPanel from List Accounts without knowing their password, which is how you support them without asking for credentials. Use it sparingly and tell them when you have - it builds more trust than it costs.

One habit worth forming: before you terminate anything, download the backup and keep it for thirty days. Customers change their minds, and being the host who still has last month copy is worth a great deal.
